Underconstruction

To think of the city explored in Underconstruction, is to think of an organism that is alive and complex, in the periphery of Lisbon, with ambiguous references, where we encounter a small and dense scale of rhythms that emblematic of highly populated places. These are areas that result from community self-organization with their own social structures and that, seen from the sky, make up a kind of landscape of archipelagos distinguished by their organic shapes. These territories question notions of continuity and order implied in the modern city. They are pre-existences out of the context. Informal structures that, from the outside, prevent us from hinting at their internal order. The maps of Alto da Cova da Moura and Quinta da Vitória quarter make visible the fluxes, parcels and built tissue inside a city that has transformed itself around them. They represent places on the verge of being destroyed or absorved.
The text Archipelagos. Crossed readings of identity of the territory reflects upon these territories seen from the sky perspective.
