LISBON CARPENTRY NETWORK wants to rehabilitate the local carpentry culture as a regenerative impulse for the city, rescuing specialized technical knowledge, valuing the offices as part of the city and, through arts and crafts, contributing to the sustainability of the urban rehabilitation of Lisbon.

Carpentries are disappearing together with a specialized technical knowledge. The difficulties of licensing small industries in the historic center of Lisbon together with the rising of rents, resulted in the loss of these workshops to the outskirts, where they gain scale and industrialize. The workshops managed by masters, respond to local needs: repairs, replacements and conservation of fundamental construction elements of the city.

LISBON CARPENTRY NETWORK shows the wooden workshops in Lisbon and promotes the use of these services and the crossing of knowledge between carpenters, craftsmen, designers, architects and other professionals.
