Hangar
Artistic Research Center
Graça - Lisbon
2014 → 2015
HANGAR is an Artistic Research Center comprising an artistic residencies center, ateliers, a gallery, an educational space and an exhibition and public presentations program. From the concept of unification of some geographies, cultures and identities, the cultural association Xerém seeks to organize and produce the development of transdisciplinary art projects in the areas of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Video, Photography, Architecture, Literature and Education, integrating public presentations focusing Greater Lisbon.
HANGAR is an idea shaped through an industrial space in the hill of Graça.. The project introduces in the existing building, the conditions to host a functional program of artistic nature and defines the minimum barriers for a flexible occupation of its interior. The modifications are reversible and take advantage of the building floors, using the reinforced concrete structure, which gives character to the space as a rhythmic visual presence throughout its four floors.
